03 Jun Getting Evicted
The number of people getting evicted has taken a sharp increase in recent times.
We are now at a six-year high for the amount of tenants that are having eviction proceedings set in motion against them. A total of 42000 people were evicted from their homes in 2014 which is the highest ever recorded since records began in 2000. If you are a landlord then this is less than good news, as serving a section 21 or a section 8 isn’t a quick process. Going through the courts can be a lengthy ordeal and in most circumstance an eviction process can take around six months. That’s six-month with no rent and mounting legal costs. Rather than start proceeding some are choosing to sell to a fast house buyer such as Home House Buyers as we here can take the problem property off your hands and allow you to get on with your life.
In the first quarter of this year, 11000 people have already been evicted which is an 8% increase on last years figures and this is 51% higher than 5 years ago.
The increase in the number of tenants losing their homes means 2015 is on course to break last year’s record levels. Nearly 42,000 families were evicted from rental accommodation in 2014, the highest number since records began in 2000.
This isn’t being helped with the rental figures soaring across all parts of the UK which is forcing people to over expose themselves and ultimately getting evicted when they can’t meet their bills. Alongside the increasing rental costs, there is also a dramatic increase in the number of households that have had their benefits capped. The figure is now close to 60,000 is from the past two years and its seems to be more apparent in London where the average rent for a two bed is £2200.
The eviction figures that were published by the Ministry of Justice shows that we have reached a record height for those getting evicted. Many families have been getting evicted by bailiffs as they were fighting it tooth and nail.
